HOTEL INFORMATION

Good News: We have had a tremendous response to the Inaugural IOA Conference in San Diego.
Bad News: We have filled our room block under the group rate at the La Jolla Marriott.

 

Based on the terrific response to this convention, the La Jolla Marriott ran out of our allotment of specially priced rooms prior to the March 3rd deadline.  They are now taking reservations at a daily rate of $209 plus tax, but a four night minimum stay starting on April 2nd is required.

 

Please accept our sincere apologies regarding the lack of hotel accommodations at the La Jolla Marriott.  

 

We have secured additional hotel accommodations down the street at the Marriott Residence Inn.  The room rate will be  $139 + taxes based on availability within the group block, the same rate as the La Jolla Marriott.  The cut off date to make reservations at the Residence Inn will be next Friday, March 17th

 

Hotel reservations for the Marriott Residence Inn San Diego La Jolla, can be made by calling Marriott reservations at 1 (800) 331-3131 or (858) 587-1770.  Please use the following group code: "IOA Conference / Ombudsman Conference" for reservations.

 

The Marriott Residence Inn is located about 1.5 miles from the main hotel at Gilman Drive just off La Jolla Village Drive and is actually closer to the University. 

 

The hotels are within walking distance to each other  (3 minutes, 1.5 miles), or you can use the complimentary shuttle service that the Marriott Residence Inn will provide to/from each hotel. 

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION

Public Transportation:  From the Metro Bus to the Trolley, there are a number of public transportation services you can use to get to and from the Airport.  Bus service fee is approximately $11.00 USD (one way).

Car Rental:  If you need a rental car, there are several car rental reservation boards located near the baggage claim areas of Terminals 1 and 2.  All car rental agencies are off-site and do not have counters inside the terminal facilities.  Car rental shuttles are boarded at the Transportation Plazas and will take you to their rental locations. 

Shuttles:  Shuttle vans and buses operated by off-airport companies are a popular and convenient transportation option.  Shuttle service is available at the Transportation Plaza across from Terminals 1 and 2, and curbside at the Commuter Terminal.  Shuttle service fee is approximately $11.00 USD.

Taxicab Service:  If you need a taxi, there are many companies that provide taxicab service at San Diego International Airport.  Estimated taxi fare is approximately $30.00 USD (one way). 

Hotel Direction: 10 miles North

Driving Directions:  North on I-5.  Exit La Jolla Village Drive (East, right).  Hotel is approximately 3/4 mile to east on left side.

PARKING

IOA will provide bus transportation to and from the hotel and UCSD for conference participants.  Please be aware that parking on campus on weekdays can be very difficult!  Finding parking on campus during Monday-Friday between 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM can be quite challenging and may actually delay your getting to conference events on time.   However, if you are interested in parking your car on the UCSD campus during the IOA conference, you may purchase short term weekday permits at $6.00/day and $3.00/evening.   You have the option of ordering permits on line through the UCSD Bookstore and either having them mailed to you in advance, or picking them up at the Bookstore Customer Service counter when you arrive.  The bookstore is open 7 days/week.  To order on line and for store hours, go to http://bookstore.ucsd.edu and click on parking permits.  You are encouraged to visit the UCSD Parking Office website at http://parking.ucsd.edu for further information about permits, and about parking rules and regulations.  You may purchase permits at the Parking Office; however, it must be handled in person during the hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday-Friday only.
