Updates from the JIOA

By Shannon Burton
JIOA Editor

Dear IOA Colleagues,

The Journal of the International Ombudsman Association (JIOA) has been busy these past few months!  Please visit our website if you have not done so recently.  There are new articles and book reviews posted.  These include:

  1. Overcoming Groundhog Day: Changing Organizational Culture while Institutionalizing the Ombudsman Role
  2. Taking Arms Against a Sea of Troubles: The Experience and Legacy of Michigan State University's First Ombudsman
  3. Book Review: Stewardship: Choosing Service Over Self- Interest”
  1. Book Review: Review of Perseverance

Additionally, if you are looking to contribute to the field, we accept a wide array of article types on a wide array of ombuds-related topics.  These different options include Research and Scholarship Features, Innovations in Practice, Research in Brief, Interviews, Case Challenges, Policy Features, Educational Features and Q&A with Luminaries in the Field.  If you would like to know more and how you might contribute as a scholar, practitioner or scholar-practitioner, please reach out to us at [email protected].

The JIOA also accepts Media Reviews.  These can be from something that you have read/watched recently or you can request one of the books that we have available (and will send to you at no cost to you).  The books that we have available for review can be found here: https://www.ombudsassociation.org/journal-of-the-ioa#Media.  Unfortunately, we are unable to ship outside of the United States at this time.

We continue to look for new manuscript reviewers.  If you are interested in reviewing for the JIOA, please complete our application here: https://forms.gle/D1ThvixtKqoF48e88. Finally, we promote both our articles and our authors on Twitter.  If you have not connected with us on Twitter, you can do so by following us at @OmbudsJournal.

Please consider contributing to the JIOA in the coming year.  If you have any questions about our process or have an idea you want to talk through, contact us at [email protected].

Best Wishes,
Shannon Lynn Burton, PhD
Editor, JIOA
