Course Description
Ombuds are required to be excellent communicators, and to coach and teach others how to be more effective communicators as well. We must be attuned to the power and influence of words, and how we can build what Judy Glaser has called “conversational intelligence” in ourselves and those we serve. What do we say to our visitors? What do we say to our organizations? What do we help others to say, and why?
This fun and engaging course will cover a range of communication tools, techniques, and skills that an ombuds must have facility with, including:
- Communication as part of coaching visitors for growth, clarity, and accountability
- Communication as part of productive conflict and relationship restoration
- Effective and powerful communication from the ombuds office to the organization and leadership
