Kennesaw State University is hosting a Summer Institute for Conflict Management Professionals in June. The institute offers a 28-hour general mediation training as well as a 4-day workshop on restorative justice practices. Of particular interest to IOA members may be a series of ombuds workshops being held on Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, June 20. Topics include assessment strategies, responses to concerns about sexual misconduct and race, restorative justice, and coaching. Facilitators include Tim Hedeen (KSU), Bina Patel (NGIC), Susan Raines (KSU), Mary Rowe (MIT), and Jennifer Schneider (USF).

On Friday, June 21, we will kick off a more informal gathering of ombuds from the southeastern region of the US. Much of that time will be spent considering future meetings as we attempt to revitalize a Southeast Ombuds Consortium.
