IOA is a member-led, professional association committed to supporting ombuds worldwide. Formed in 2005, we are one of the largest international associations of professional ombuds practitioners in the world, now representing more than 1,000 members across the globe.

*Retired Member category is only available to previous Retired Members or IOA Members. Membership Dues are voluntary and non-refundable.

Transfer of IOA Membership

IOA memberships are held by individuals. A transfer of membership may be initiated by a current member by contacting IOA staff at [email protected] or +1-206-209-5275. A $25 fee will apply for each transfer of membership. Learn more about the guidelines for transfer of membership.


For U.S. citizens: contributions or gifts to associations which are exempt under IRS 501(c)6 are not tax-deductible as charitable contributions. However, they may be deducted as ordinary and necessary business expenses.
