The course will no longer be held in person at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis, IN, USA. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please note, all current registrants will automatically be transferred to the virtual course, which will take place from Monday–Thursday, 25–28 October 2021 from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM PT each day. Registrants will receive several virtual event preparation messages with additional information about this event via email in October.

Foundations of Organizational Ombuds Practice is offered multiple times each year in various locations, and online. The course covers the fundamentals of the organizational ombuds role based on the principles of confidentiality, neutrality, independence, and informality. Learn how to work with visitors to an office as well as how to act as a change agent within your organization. Practice key ombuds skills of listening, asking questions, clarifying, generating options, and moving to actions throughout the ombuds process. In addition, an experienced and highly committed faculty of ombuds will share best practices around setting up an office and evaluating and communicating the effectiveness of the office.

COVID Information - No Longer Applicable for this Event

Planning Information

At this time, the IOA in-person trainings are scheduled to take place as planned. We want you to know that your safety, and the safety of all attendees, remains our top priority. While this training will not be canceled, it may become necessary at some point for the format to change (be moved online/virtual). We appreciate your understanding and willingness to be flexible while we work within the limitations set by our obligations and the current pandemic.

Assumption of Risk

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is reported to be extremely contagious. The state of medical knowledge continues to evolve, but the virus is believed to spread through airborne particles, person-to-person contact, and contact with contaminated surfaces and objects. People can be infected and show no symptoms and therefore spread the disease. To date, there is no known treatment or cure for COVID-19. Evidence has shown that COVID-19 can cause serious and potentially life-threatening illness and even death.

By registering for an in-person IOA event, attendees understand that IOA cannot prevent them from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while attending this course. Furthermore, attendees understand that by choosing to attend this course, they may be exposing themselves to and/or increasing their risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.

COVID Safety Guidelines

IOA will be following all current CDC guidelines for large gatherings. Additionally, all attendees & guests will be subject to all venue rules and regulations in place at the time of the event. By registering for an in-person IOA event, you are agreeing to abide by all safety protocols set forth by the meeting organizers. If you are found to be in violation of the guidelines and IOA feels your behavior is putting other attendees at risk, you may be asked to leave. If you are asked to leave, IOA reserves the right to determine your eligibility for a refund. We appreciate your compliance with this policy to ensure the safety of all IOA guests at the event.

Additionally, you will be asked to attest to your health status onsite, prior to participating in the IOA event. If you are not willing to complete this health questionnaire or your responses indicate that you may be at risk for spreading the virus, IOA reserves the right to determine your eligibility for a refund.
