This course applies to ombuds programs in organizational settings. It does not address some features unique to other models of ombuds practice, such as classical, advocate, or legislative. About the Instructors:Sue Theiss, MASue helps employees and organizations navigate their way through sensitive and complex issues, choosing a path that works for each person's unique needs and circumstances, to resolve conflict and create positive change in working and learning relationships. She has provided individual, small group, and organizational conflict management services to a diverse group of employees and learners for over 25 years. Having directed Ombuds programs at three major research universities, Sue has helped thousands of visitors navigate solutions to conflict in complex systems through individual coaching, mediation, training, and group facilitation.
While at the University of Arkansas, Sue developed and co-taught a university course on conflict and anger management and offered a 32-hour mediation course. At Oregon State University, she continues to provide trainings for students and employees on conflict management and workplace bullying. As a member of IOA, Sue has presented at conferences and regional trainings on workplace bullying and conflict climate. She co-developed and presented the first Core course for IOA on "Theory and Applications for the Organizational Ombudsperson", attended by private and public institutions’ organizational ombuds from around the globe.
