Course Description
This is a practical skills course. It is designed to provide you with some mediation theory/style information and a lot of practice to enhance your ombuds work. Part of the Ombuds role is to mediate/facilitate difficult conversations within their organizations and this course will boost your skills. In the neutral mediator/facilitator role, an ombuds utilizes a “face to face” process that supports visitors to give voice to their concerns and to better understand those of the other in order to gain clarity and seek positive outcomes. Whether you are new to mediation or an experienced mediator, by learning the fundamentals of mediation in the context of organizational ombuds services you will enhance your ability to support effective conversations and potentially broaden your services.
