About the Course

Conflict Resilience Coaching is an emerging, strengths-based approach that equips individuals to navigate conflict with greater confidence, adaptability, and integrity. Rooted in principles of conflict transformation, resilience theory, and coaching practice, this modality shifts the focus from fixing problems to building personal and systemic capacity for constructive engagement.

This interactive six-hour training introduces ombuds, mediators, lawyers, and other dispute resolution professionals to the foundational concepts and skills of conflict resilience coaching. Participants will explore how coaching conversations can uncover strengths, clarify values, and transform conflict narratives into opportunities for growth. Through a blend of reflective exercises, live demonstrations, and guided practice, attendees will learn how to integrate resilience-oriented coaching tools into their existing professional frameworks.

The session emphasizes real-world application—how to support clients before, during, and after conflicts by cultivating awareness, emotional regulation, and self-determined action. Participants will also learn to differentiate coaching from other modalities such as mediation, counselling, and ombuds practice, and to identify where resilience coaching can enhance their work.

Conflict Resilience Coaching complements the dispute resolution field by fostering sustained capacity, not just resolution. This training offers a practical, human-centred approach that strengthens both practitioners and the systems they serve.

Learning Objectives

After engaging in this session, participants will be better able to:

  • Define conflict resilience and describe how a strengths-based coaching framework differs from other dispute resolution modalities.
  • Apply core coaching skills—including deep listening, powerful questioning, and reframing—to help clients build clarity, confidence, and adaptive capacity in conflict.
  • Use the Conflict Resilience Coaching Model to design and facilitate coaching conversations that enhance self-awareness and sustainable conflict engagement.
