Professional Development Committee 2021 Needs Assessment

Help Shape the Future of IOA Education

IOA's Professional Development Committee (PDC) is seeking input as they continue to develop relevant training for 2022 and beyond. To collect member insight, the Committee has created the following Needs Assessment Survey.

The information gathered by this survey will help inform the PDC's efforts as well as assist IOA work in supporting the 2021-2024 IOA Strategic Plan, specifically Goal 1.2, "Improve professional development/training programs to make them more readily available and to better reflect member needs at different career points and for different sectors and geographies."

To help ensure that we are providing professional development opportunities that meet our members' needs we ask that you take a moment and complete this survey. It should take no more than 15 minutes of your valuable time.

CO-OP® Domains (Based on 2016 Job Analysis)Before completing the following assessment, please take a moment to review our current collection of training offerings.

IOA trainings have been reviewed and categorized by domains and competencies after analysis by PDC Chairs, Alicia Booker, Ph.D. candidate, and Susan Casino. This was done to help you navigate the survey.

The term ‘domain’ is used in IOA’s 2008 and 2016 Focus Group Job Analyses that were used to develop IOA’s CO-OP® exam. The term ‘domain’ is used to define the main area of expertise required for the ombuds function. The term ‘competency’ is used to define knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). A list of KSAs is located in the 2016 report, Appendix D

The deadline to complete the survey is 2 September 2021.
